Climb Budget LLC ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service, Climb Budget ("Service"), accessible at climbbudget.com. By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not use our Service.
Personal Information:When you create an account with Climb Budget, we collect personal information that you provide to us directly, such as your name, email address, and any financial data you input, including but not limited to, names of accounts, merchants, and transaction amounts.
Usage Data:We may collect information about your interactions with our Service, including the features you use, the time spent on the Service, and your activities while using the Service. This data is used to help us improve and customize the user experience.
Device Information:We may collect information about the device you use to access our Service, including your device's IP address, operating system, browser type, and other diagnostic data.
Climb Budget is a local-first application: a copy of your budget data is stored on your own device, in your browser's storage, which is what allows the app to open instantly and keep working offline. Your data is also synced, encrypted in transit, to servers we operate, so that your other devices stay current and your budget survives a lost or replaced device. Removing the app or clearing your browser's storage removes the local copy from that device only; your synced data remains available when you sign in again.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To Provide and Maintain Our Service:We use your personal information to operate and maintain the Climb Budget service, including managing your account and processing transactions.
To Improve Our Service:Usage and device information help us understand how users interact with Climb Budget, enabling us to make improvements and enhance user experience.
To Communicate with You:We may use your email address to send you important updates, notifications, and information related to your account or our services. We may also send you promotional content, which you can opt out of at any time.
For Security and Fraud Prevention:We may use your information to detect, prevent, and address security issues or fraudulent activities.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
With Service Providers:We share information with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, payment processing, and email delivery. These service providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and are only permitted to use your information as necessary to perform their services.
For Legal Purposes:We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities, such as a court or government agency.
In Business Transfers:If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
In order to provide you with the Climb Budget service, we work with a small number of trusted third-party providers to manage different aspects of our operations. These providers help us with essential functions such as payment processing, hosting, and email delivery. Below is an explanation of how these third-party services are involved and how they may handle your information.
Each third-party provider we work with is carefully selected for their compliance with industry standards and their commitment to safeguarding your data. These providers may collect and process personal information on our behalf, but only to the extent necessary to perform the services they provide. We do not sell or share your personal data with these providers for any purposes other than those related to the operation of Climb Budget.
We use Paddle as our payment processor for managing subscription payments. Paddle is responsible for securely processing all billing transactions for Climb Budget. This includes handling the processing of subscription payments, managing refunds, and resolving any payment-related issues. When you subscribe to Climb Budget, Paddle collects personal and financial information necessary to process your payment, such as your name, email address, and payment details (e.g., credit card information). Paddle uses this information solely for the purpose of processing payments on behalf of Climb Budget. Paddle is a fully PCI-compliant service provider, meaning they adhere to the highest industry standards for payment security. All transactions made through Climb Budget will appear on your bank or card statements as PADDLE.NET*CLIMBBUDGE. Climb Budget itself never sees or stores your card details.

Climb Budget runs on servers we rent from Linode, part of Akamai. Linode provides the underlying computing infrastructure that hosts the Climb Budget website and its database. Your account data — including the financial information you enter — is stored in a database that we operate ourselves on this infrastructure; it is not handed to a separate managed database company. As our infrastructure provider, Linode may automatically process certain technical data, such as IP addresses and network traffic, as part of delivering the Service and protecting it against attacks.

We use two services from Cloudflare. First, when you create an account, the sign-up form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a service that distinguishes real people from automated bots. To make that determination, Turnstile processes limited technical information about your browser and device, including your IP address. Turnstile does not use this information to build advertising profiles or track you across other websites. Second, we store backups of our database with Cloudflare's storage service so that your budget can be restored in the event of a server failure; these backups are encrypted at rest and accessible only to us.

We use Proton Mail to deliver transactional email on our behalf — messages such as email address verification and password reset links. To deliver these messages, Proton processes your email address and the contents of the emails we send you. Proton is a privacy-focused email provider based in Switzerland and does not use this information for any purpose other than delivering our email.

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.
We will retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services or as outlined in our terms of service. We may also retain and use your information to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
You have the right to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information. You can manage your account settings, export a complete copy of your data from within the app, or contact us directly to exercise these rights. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.
Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you prefer. Please note that if you choose to decline cookies, certain features of our website may not function as intended.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Your continued use of the Service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
